Welcome to The Old Trading Post Guesthouse near Wilderness in the heart of The Garden Route where we offer quality bed and breakfast or self-catering accommodation at affordable prices. Pets and children of all ages are welcome. (See our Pet Policy.) Experience the old world charm of The Old Trading Post, amidst the peace, tranquility and natural beauty of the Wilderness Lakes District. The area enjoys a moderate climate all year round. The Old Trading Post is situated in a rural, sunny location on the edge of the wetlands of Wilderness section of The Garden Route National Park. This is the ideal base to explore Wilderness and The Garden Route.
We have four rooms / units accommodating a maximum of ten guests. All the rooms have en-suite bathrooms, kettles, complimentary tea and coffee, bar fridges, television, hair driers, heaters and fans or air-conditioning. Rooms have comfortable beds with fine percale linen and duvets, electric under-blankets during winter, towels, and personal amenities.
We also have two glamping (tented) units accommodating another six guests. These tents have basic facilities, including bed linen and towels, camp kitchens and bathrooms for a unique experience.
Guests can make use of facilities in the main house. This includes the dining room for breakfasts and the odd bit of office work, or relax in the lounge which was the original general dealer store – Trading Post – from about 1910 – 1970. There is also a television lounge available.
Outside there is a long sunny veranda and various patios with outdoor furniture and braai facilities. Here guests can relax, read, socialize or soak in the peace while not out exploring the surroundings and The Garden Route. There is a small swimming pool in front of the main house. Wifi is available in most areas and rooms.
We also supply many extras such as emergency lighting, mosquito repellent, playing cards, magazines, books and tourist brochures for activities and experiences in Wilderness and the Garden Route. We offer guided activities in some of the most scenic locations on the Garden Route.
Artisanal bread and pizza are just some of the culinary delights available from our kitchen, which is open for breakfast, dinner and special meals on request. These lovely bites can be enjoyed in the warm ambience of our dining room or al fresco on the veranda or in our garden. If you are looking for something more private we also do takeaways and delivery.
